Yesterday, the news of the execution of an Iranian protester named “Mohsen Shekhari” by the Islamic Republic brought a huge wave of sadness and anger inside and outside Iran.
Mohsen was arrested for participating in nationwide protests in Tehran and executed without a fair trial only 74 days after his arrest. According to news published by human rights groups, Mohsen was sentenced to death after a period of torture and forced confession in a completely unfair and non-transparent judicial process.
This execution once again proved that the Islamic Republic is a fundamental and structural violator of human rights in Iran.
Unfortunately, since peaceful protests in Iran began, the Islamic Republic has carried out brutal repression, draconian torture, and rape against protestors. Published and documented reports by independent human rights groups and reliable international media confirm that at least 470 protesters have been killed by the Islamic Republic, among whom 64 children have been identified.
So far, more than 18,000 protestors have been arrested, and there is a risk of torture and heavy sentences against them. This situation requires the international community to act as quickly as possible to prevent the continuation of systematic human rights violations in Iran.

I hereby request the honorable President of the UN Human Rights Council, Mr. Federico Villegas to take the necessary measures to put pressure on the Islamic Republic to stop the execution of the protesters immediately and to hold it accountable for systematic human rights violations.

روز گذشته انتشار خبر اعدام یکی از معترضان ایرانی به نام «محسن شکاری» از سوی جمهوری اسلامی، موج عظیمی از ناراحتی و خشم را در داخل و خارج از ایران با خود به همراه داشت.

محسن به دلیل شرکت در اعتراضات مردمی در تهران بازداشت شده بود و بدون برخورداری از دادرسی عادلانه و فقط پس از گذشت ۷۴ روز از زمان بازداشت، اعدام شد. بنابر اخبار منتشر شده از سوی گروه‌های حقوق بشری، محسن پس از یک دوره شکنجه و اجبار به اعتراف اجباری علیه خود و در یک روند قضایی کاملاً ناعادلانه و غیرشفاف محکوم به اعدام شد.

این اعدام بار دیگر ثابت کرد که جمهوری اسلامی به صورت بنیادین و ساختاری ناقض حقوق بشر در ایران است.

متأسفانه از زمان آغاز اعتراضات مسالمت‌آمیز در ایران، جمهوری اسلامی اقدام به سرکوب خونبار، بازداشت، شکنجه و تجاوز به زندانیان کرده است. گزارش‌های منتشر و مستند شده از سوی گروه‌های حقوق بشری مستقل و رسانه‌های معتبر بین‌المللی تأیید می‌کند که حداقل ۴۷۰ نفر از معترضان از سوی جمهوری اسلامی کشته شده‌اند که در میان آن‌ها ۶۴ کودک شناسایی شده است. تاکنون بیش از ۱۸ هزار نفر از مردم معترض بازداشت شده‌اند که خطر شکنجه و صدور احکام سنگین علیه آن‌ها وجود دارد. این وضعیت نیازمند اقدام هرچه سریع‌تر جامعه بین‌المللی به منظور جلوگیری از تداوم نقض سیستماتیک حقوق بشر در ایران است.

بدین وسیله از ریاست محترم دوره‌ای شورای حقوق بشر سازمان ملل متحد، آقای وزیر فدریکو ویلگاس، می‌خواهم تا با به‌کارگیری تمامی ابزارهای موجود، اقدامات ضروری به منظور تلاش برای توقف فوری اجرای احکام اعدام برای معترضین و نیز پاسخگو کردن حکومت جمهوری اسلامی در برابر نقض گسترده حقوق بشر را به انجام رساند.
